OpenIO with external S3

#1

Hello,

Our use case is to have a federated layer to connect to existing remote storage sites. We have satellite S3, POSIX, and Swift storage sites, but need a federation layer to manage GET and PUTs to those sites.

Does anyone have experience with this?

Thanks!

Hi @at88mph,

That’s actually a very good question.

In a nutshell OpenIO will not be able to federate many existing storage sites, in a sense that our software can’t discover what is already stored outside (like a kind of smart proxy would do).

You can have an OpenIO cluster securing data in many different remote sites, but you have to put the data through it.

Hope this helps!

Guillaume.
