There is no unpleasant question here, and we are definitely ok with transparency
Well, let me try to tackle all these questions!
So OpenIO is an actual company, today with offices in France, USA and Japan.
The founders team is in the storage field since many many years, while developing the OpenIO technology since 10 years now (first massive production in 2009, petabyte scale ). So yes, I think we can say that OpenIO is mature and production ready ... since almost 10 years
OpenIO is an open source solution, with a strong focus on the community. We have contributions coming from it, although a major part of the active developers are OpenIO employees. Let's say for now!
The difference between the "Community Edition" and the "Premium" is actually a very good question.
There is nothing, inside the core of OpenIO, that is enabled or disabled by the "Premium Edition". What we are providing in the "Premium Edition" is support (24/7) and extra connectors and tools (like the WebUI and the file connector).
But again, nothing change between these two editions regarding the OpenIO SDS core solution.
About the metadata exports, to be honest it's the first time I have this question
So obviously the answer is NO. The goal of our solution is to help you to build your own storage infrastructure with your own hardware => full ownership of your data.
And there is no hidden code, it's open source, feel free to check!
Hope this helps
